4 major observations from Baker Mayfield’s sixth Panthers practice

Baker Mayfield had a lot on his plate upon arriving at the Carolina Panthers. This was yet another complex system to learn and not much time to do it, which led to some obvious rustiness over the first few days that’s slowly become a thing of the past this week.
Mayfield is deciphering plays well and has increased the tempo when under center. These traits will serve him well when the time comes to start in Week 1 against the team that cast him aside in favor of controversial signal-caller Deshaun Watson.
According to Ellis Williams of The Charlotte Observer, Mayfield is also picking up what’s demanded within Ben McAdoo’s scheme. This involves being accurate and getting the football out quickly into his playmakers’ hands.
"“He (Mayfield) showed a continued understanding of McAdoo’s offensive principles. McAdoo expects his quarterbacks to throw quickly, distributing the ball to playmakers rather than holding it. Multiple times Mayfield delivered quick strikes to Christen McCaffrey, DJ Moore and C.J. Saunders. He’s playing on time by letting it rip and trusting his eyes.”"
Matt Rhule stated that about 70 percent of the offense is now installed, with the rest coming by the end of the week. This will be yet more for Mayfield to handle, but the way he’s taken everything on board so far has been nothing short of exceptional.
