Carolina Panthers OLB Frankie Luvu’s big-play ability showcased
After making the biggest impact imaginable on the defensive rotation in 2021, there is real hope that Frankie Luvu can continue this trend from a starting role next season. The outside linebacker is a high-intensity individual who inspires others around him and the Carolina Panthers made the right call by handing him an extension this offseason to prevent his departure in free agency.
Luvu is expected to start opposite Shaq Thompson at the second level. With the veteran sitting out practice after a minor knee procedure, the Washington State product is taking it upon himself to leave absolutely no doubt as to his importance moving forward.
One thing that separates Luvu from most on Carolina’s roster is his football instincts, which are nothing short of exceptional. Something that was on full display during Tuesday’s practice thanks to a stunning interception from Baker Mayfield in team drills.
Luvu jumped the route expertly and displayed enough athleticism to bring the football into his grasp. A tremendous play that sparked jubilant scenes from the first-team defense.
It was another prime example of Luvu letting his production do the talking. His natural aura and fierce determination are traits others gravitate toward and if this transitions into the regular season, the Panthers will be better off for it.
