Carolina Panthers new practice regime working well for Christian McCaffrey

The Carolina Panthers are currently treating Christian McCaffrey‘s preparations for the new season with extreme caution. Something that became an absolute necessity after the running back suffered further injury complications during the 2021 campaign.

Featuring 10 times over the last two seasons hasn’t been ideal for McCaffrey. It’s also hindered the Panthers’ chances of progression when things looked quite promising over the first three games last time around.

McCaffrey was back in pads and catching the eye on Friday. But the former first-round pick was also keen to point out that working on days off remains at the forefront while also lending his support from the sidelines.

"“I think those days off are important. You’ve got to make sure on those days off that you’re doing everything to get ready for the next day. That’s the purpose of it. So it’s an off day, but you’re still working. You’re doing a lot of stuff with the trainers, you’re doing stuff with the strength coaches – strength stuff, flexibility stuff, to get ready for that next day. But I feel great.”"

This is only going to help McCaffrey and the team overall. If there are any further complications on the health front, it will be nothing short of disastrous and especially if the Panthers don’t have a better contingency plan if this dreaded scenario comes to fruition.

The new approach seems to be working for McCaffrey. But anyone expecting to see the Stanford product in the preseason will likely be out of luck.
