Which Carolina Panthers are winning their respective position battles after Week 2 of the team’s training camp in Spartanburg?

There were a number of key position battles to watch once the Carolina Panthers descended on Spartanburg for their annual training camp. Influential figures within the organization made strengthening depth one of the team’s top priorities this offseason, which has seen increased competition for places throughout a busy first two weeks at Wofford College.

The Panthers putting pads on during Week 2 was a chance for some to separate themselves in terms of depth chart standing and making claims for the 53-man roster. Something that head coach Matt Rhule stated would continue until Carolina’s joint practices against the New England Patriots come to an end.

Whether this is the right approach for some important spots is debatable. One cannot overlook how splitting reps could hinder continuity when the real action begins, but it’s a risk Rhule and the Panthers are willing to take in pursuit of better fortunes next season.

With that being said, here are five Panthers players who are winning their position battles after Week 2 of Carolina’s training camp.

Stick a fork in this one.

It’s done.

The Carolina Panthers will be rolling with J.J Jansen as their starting long-snapper once again in 2022. Last year’s sixth-rounder Thomas Fletcher was waived, which left fans fuming at the fact he was selected in the first place when there was plenty of meat on the bone in terms of prospects that could have assisted.

Jansen is the team’s longest-serving player and remained ultra-consistent in 2021. Hopefully, this is a trend that the legendary figure can continue into the upcoming campaign.
