Rashard Higgins – Carolina Panthers WR

Assuming that D.J. Moore, Robbie Anderson, and Terrace Marshall Jr. will be the top-three wide receivers in 2022, those further down the pecking order had to make a big statement in pursuit of involvement during training camp. One player has seized the opportunity more than most.

Rashard Higgins might not have produced the goods in 2021 for the Cleveland Browns. But his previous relationship with Baker Mayfield has enabled the wideout to hit the ground running in a different environment.

Higgins might have drawn the fury of head coach Matt Rhule for his celebrations following a deep touchdown catch from Mayfield in Saturday’s scrimmage. However, this should not detract from how talented the player is if given enough involvement.

Although C.J. Saunders and Shi Smith have flashed on occasions, the WR4 job is Higgins’ to lose after two weeks of camp. Something that the former Colorado State standout can build upon during their upcoming preseason games.

There is no doubt whatsoever that Higgins has got his swagger back. Mayfield’s presence has helped enormously, but the player deserves an enormous amount of credit for taking this opportunity and making the most out of it so far.

Whether this correlates to targets when it matters most is the big question.
