Stephen Sullivan – Carolina Panthers TE

Although Stephen Sullivan has missed some time in training camp, the tight end’s production during drills and team activities caught the eye. Whether it’s enough for the Carolina Panthers to take him onto their roster is another matter entirely.

Sullivan’s been around the set-up on the practice squad last season. The LSU product has all the physical tools needed to become a success at the position, but there’s been real reluctance from the Panthers to give him any sort of responsibility despite the distinct lack of pass-catching influence from the team’s preferred options.

Carolina seems content to move forward with Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble as their tight end tandem. There is also hope that offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo can unlock their potential as he’s done with the likes of Evan Engram previously.

If neither works out as expected, then the Panthers might consider a third tight end on their 53-man roster. Should this scenario come to fruition, then Sullivan might be in with a shout of making the team providing he can regain fitness for the preseason games.

It might be worth Carolina giving Sullivan all he can handle if fit enough in the coming weeks. This would provide influential figures within the organization with a broader perspective about what he could potentially bring to a typical gameday setting.
