Carolina Panthers WR Rashard Higgins continues to shine

There have been a number of standouts in training camp this year. Perhaps no player has done more to help his chances than Rashard Higgins.

The wide receiver came into the Carolina Panthers on the roster bubble but has quickly emerged thanks to a series of outstanding displays. Higgins should not be considered as a lock to make the 53-man roster and might even emerge as a core part of the team’s plans on offense under Ben McAdoo.

It’s evident that Higgins has benefitted enormously from the presence of quarterback Baker Mayfield. The pair developed a strong connection during their time on the Cleveland Browns and this has continued throughout their early stint in Carolina despite integrating into a new system.

Higgins once again shone on Monday, hauling in some exceptional grabs with a flamboyance that’s hard not to love. If this continues into the regular season, McAdoo and his staff would be wise to allocate a fair share of targets in the Colorado State product’s direction.

In truth, Higgins couldn’t have done much more to stake a claim. It’ll be interesting to see how the wideout performs during the preseason, which could enhance his hopes further if everything goes according to plan.

Carolina didn’t benefit from much consistency from their pass-catchers outside of D.J. Moore in 2021. If Higgins continues to impress, he could become a real X-factor when push comes to shove.
