Carolina Panthers got plenty of highlights from Matt Corral

Even though Matt Corral’s reps were limited thanks to the presence of Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold, the former Ole Miss standout caught the eye when given the opportunity. His first training camp was littered with memorable highlights, which demonstrated the quarterback’s arm strength and mobility that many anticipated coming out of college.

This was obviously a steep learning curve for Corral having participated in OTAs and not much else since joining the Carolina Panthers. His attitude was another notable trait throughout camp, with the player taking mental reps from the sidelines and remaining fully engaged when not part of the process.

It’s not hard to see why the Panthers were so high on Corral during their pre-draft evaluations. His rapid-fire release is as advertised and the player also gets the football downfield quickly to further heighten excitement.

There are some flaws that need work. Something that the coaching staff will endeavor to solve throughout the remaining preparation period and during regular season practices.

The good was very good where Corral’s concerned in camp. Once the signal-caller puts everything together, the Panthers might just have a player on their hands.
