Carolina Panthers must have consistent QB play

The Carolina Panthers have had a quarterback carousel since 2019 with Cam Newton, Kyle Allen, Will Grier, Teddy Bridgewater, P.J. Walker, and Sam Darnold all making starts. During that time, the play under center has been lackluster, to say the least.

Going into the 2022 season, it’s obvious that the quarterback position has not been solidified since the team decided to make a trade for Baker Mayfield, the No. 1 overall selection in 2018.

Mayfield has had his share of highs and lows throughout an eventful NFL career. Last season he was riddled with injuries, playing with a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder from Week 2 onwards.

Hopefully, he’s able to remain healthy this season and return to the level of play he produced in 2020. Mayfield led the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs and even secured their first postseason success since 1994 for good measure.

Mayfield should be the starter for a must-see Week 1 clash against his old team. He gives Carolina the best chance to win with his fiery attitude, ability to throw the deep ball, and overall accuracy being better than anyone on the current roster.

In training camp, he has already established solid chemistry with the offense. It also seems like the whole team is behind Mayfield as the starting signal-caller.
