The Carolina Panthers’ tight end room is one of the most underwhelming in the NFL. Although the trio of Tommy Tremble, Ian Thomas, and Giovanni Ricci can all block well.

It’s the receiving skill that the Panthers lack at this position. Tremble and Thomas are both capable of being solid in the passing game, but they just haven’t shown it yet and it’s a big season for both given the presence of the team’s new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo.

McAdoo enjoys utilizing his tight ends and will most likely get more production out of this position than fans have seen since the great Greg Olsen left in 2020 free agency for the Seattle Seahawks.

Even though this hasn’t been all that evident during the preseason, the Panthers appear confident in their current options. However, if things don’ start well, then there is enough in the way of financial resources to bring someone in should the right opportunity come along.

In this 53-man roster, Colin Thompson and Stephen Sullivan are not included. Both players could very well make the team but haven’t stood out so far in the preseason.

Sullivan has the most upside of the two. So perhaps a place on the practice squad might be an option for the LSU product when it comes to the crunch.
