Could the Carolina Panthers make another trade before the 2022 season in the form of wide receiver Denzel Mims from the New York Jets?

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Carolina Panthers have engaged in talks on a potential trade for Denzel Mims. A talented wide receiver that’s struggled on the New York Jets so far but has a previous working relationship with head coach Matt Rhule from their time together at Baylor.

Scott Fitterer is always looking at ways to improve the roster, even a positional group that looks to be pretty strong overall. However, the Panthers would welcome another weapon in an offensive league where you have to put up points.

Adding Mims and potentially keeping Terrace Marshall Jr. healthy, Carolina’s offense would be very good and the wideout room might be very deep with different types of skill sets.

Mims needs a fresh start and Carolina would be the perfect spot for him to come in right away and feel at home. It might take him a bit to learn the new system, but Ben McAdoo will find him a role that will propel production.

With this in mind, here are four pros and cons to the Panthers trading for Mims before the 2022 campaign.

Carolina Panthers could transition Denzel Mims smoothly

Denzel Mims is a former Baylor Bear who played under Matt Rhule. Everybody knows how attached the head coach is to his former college players and this level of comfort could ensure a smooth transition for the wideout in this scenario.

Mims would bring great size to the wide receiver room at 6-foot-3 and 207 pounds. This could be a great addition to the current corps on the Carolina Panthers, which features D.J Moore, Robbie Anderson, Shi Smith, and Terrace Marshall Jr.

Due to Marshall’s inability to stay on the field, looking into acquiring Mims is appealing to the future of the team. And knowing what Rhule demands from his players would help enormously right out of the gate.
