Which Carolina Panthers players improved their roster chances during the team’s final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills?

The long wait is almost over. We are now less than 14 days away from the regular season and Carolina Panthers football once again.

There’s quiet optimism amongst Panthers fans that they could see the franchise’s first winning season since 2017. This is thanks to improving many positions that struggled throughout the 2021 campaign.

Baker Mayfield is now under center, which has injected life into the organization. Improvements on the offensive line with the free agent of acquisitions Austin Corbett and Bradley Bozeman, along with Ikem Ekwonu are expected to revitalize a unit that ranked as one of the NFL’s worst a season ago.

The Panthers’ defense also hopes to make strides in 2022. Jaycee Horn’s return from injury and new defensive backs coach Steve Wilks should see Carolina become potentially an elite secondary unit when competitive action arrives.

Matt Rhule’s men closed out the preseason on Friday Night with an impressive 21-0 win over the Buffalo Bills. While the Super Bowl favorites held most of their starters out, they still have one of the deepest rosters in the league so it was good to see the Panthers perform well.

This was the first extended look the Panthers fans got at Mayfield and they’ll be impressed with what they saw. The quarterback looked confident and the offense started to click ahead of Week 1 and his revenge game against the Cleveland Browns.

Without further ado, here are five Panthers players who helped their roster chances in preseason Week 3 with final cuts looming large.
