5 Panthers that improved their roster chances in 2022 preseason finale
By Luke Gray
Myles Hartsfield – Carolina Panthers DB
Another player with exceptional versatility is Myles Hartsfield. The undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss has operated across the secondary once again this offseason, seeing snaps at cornerback and safety, giving a solid account of himself for good measure.
The Carolina Panthers’ defensive back room is probably the deepest on the roster. So for Hartsfield to stand out as he has is a testament to his work ethic and ability to develop key areas.
Hartsfield has even been touted as a potential starter at the nickel cornerback for the Panthers. Whether this scenario becomes a reality is another matter.
Despite his versatility and solid tape, it was still not a certainty that the player would make the team. However, Hartsfield has been a consistent performer throughout training camp and the preseason, making some noteworthy plays including an interception he ripped from the hands of D.J. Moore.
The Panthers’ secondary as already mentioned is blessed with some exceptional athletes, meaning that some talented players will miss out. But it would come as a surprise if Hartsfield was one of them when push comes to shove and there could be plenty more to come from an individual that nobody gave much of a chance when he arrived following the 2020 draft.
