5 Panthers that improved their roster chances in 2022 preseason finale

Marquan McCall – Carolina Panthers DT
From the Carolina Panthers’ deepest position group to possibly the lightest. The depth across the defensive line has been an issue throughout the offseason, meaning there was a real opportunity for players like Marquan McCall to make the final 53-man roster.
The 6-foot-3, 380-pound defensive tackle out of Kentucky has certainly made an impact this summer, culminating in an impressive performance in the preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills. McCall ended the game with one tackle and a sack, which caught the eye in no uncertain terms.
McCall has generated some positive momentum at the right time. His high-performance levels throughout the preseason and overall work ethic have gone down well amongst fans, which could result in the Panthers making him a surprise inclusion when push comes to shove.
Providing they are also suitably impressed, of course.
McCall has more than likely been battling his former Wildcats teammate Phil Hoskins to make the roster. One could make a strong case that the undrafted free agent has greatly outperformed the 2021 seventh-round selection.
If it comes down to a choice between the two, then McCall could get the nod despite Hoskins flashing some promise in a competitive setting down the stretch last season.
