Carolina Panthers could claim Kemoko Turay

Losing Haason Reddick in free agency meant the Carolina Panthers lost a stud pass-rusher. This is also a positional group that’s lacking genuine depth if one or two prominent figures get injured.

Those in power have examined possibilities for reinforcements this offseason. Carlos Dunlap came in for a visit but left without a deal, but there might be a chance to rectify this problem on the waiver wire if the Panthers think it will help.

One name that stands out more than most is Kemoko Turay. The Indianapolis Colts waived the edge rusher during their final round of cuts, but his 5.5 sacks from a rotational role in 2021 indicate that another team might take a chance.

Carolina wouldn’t ask Turay to start. But any energy he can provide when called upon would be a significant asset.

The former second-round pick showed signs of life last season – which is the first time he’s made an impact since his rookie campaign. Turay has physicality and explosiveness that could assist, but the Panthers will also be hoping Yetur Gross-Matos and Marquis Haynes can take the necessary leaps forward to help out Pro Bowler Brian Burns.

Turay is sure to generate some interest. Whether the Panthers throw their hat in the ring remains to be seen.
