Carolina Panthers’ offense will improve under Ben McAdoo
The past two years for Matt Rhule and the offense have been rough. Especially coming out of the half ranking 31st in third-quarter points last season.
The half-time adjustments have to be better if this offense and team want a trip to the playoffs. Baker Mayfield and Ben McAdoo are the perfect pair in terms of scheme player, which could propel the Carolina Panthers to better things in 2022.
Mayfield played this type of pocket-passing, spread-you-out offense at Oklahoma and thrived. Although it was only against Big 12 defenses, the signal-caller still showed he has an exceptional deep ball and is not scared to push it down the field.
McAdoo wants to spread you out and make you cover 53 yards of grass vertically and horizontally. With Joe Brady as offensive coordinator, the ball was hardly ever pushed, allowing opposing defenses to play more man coverage and make things extremely difficult for the Panthers to move the chains.
Providing Mayfield can get the ball down the field, it’s just what this offense needs. A vertical passing game and the quarterback to make those throws when called upon.
The Panthers have a deep threat in D.J Moore and Robbie Anderson, they just need a scheme, and the right guy under center to give them a chance. Hopefully, the Mayfield/McAdoo partnership will bring out the best in everybody.
