What exciting traits can Laviska Shenault Jr. bring the Carolina Panthers in 2022 following his recent trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars?

One couldn’t accuse the Carolina Panthers of not being aggressive in pursuit of improving their roster. General manager Scott Fitterer is always on the lookout for a good deal, which he’s hoping Laviska Shenault Jr. eventually becomes after acquiring him from the Jacksonville Jaguars before their 53-man roster was finalized.

Shenault didn’t quite meet expectations as the No. 42 overall selection. He’s gone over 600 receiving yards in both seasons in the NFL and has a catch success rate of 67.6 percent, but the Jaguars thought they had enough in their wideout room to let him leave after shelling out big bucks to secure the services of Christian Kirk in free agency.

Carolina has an abundance of weapons in the passing game themselves. Although nobody apart from D.J. Moore managed to accumulate the yardage Shenault accomplished last season.

With this in mind, here are four exciting traits Shenault could bring to the Panthers in 2022.

Laviska Shenault Jr. brings physicality to the Carolina Panthers

One thing that instantly caught the eye when Laviska Shenault Jr. took the practice field following the trade was his size. He is a huge wide receiver that looks like a handful, which is something the Carolina Panthers could use to their advantage in 2022.

Shenault worked with offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo on the Jacksonville Jaguars during his rookie season. He also looks like a good scheme fit given how the play-caller likes to get the football out quickly and into the hands of his playmakers.

This physical style can bring something different to the Panthers next season. But much will depend on how quickly Shenault picks things up in the shortest timeframe.
