What are some realistic goals the Carolina Panthers defense can aim for during an important 2022 season for Phil Snow’s unit?

The Carolina Panthers lost a lot of defensive starters from 2021 in free agency this year This forced general manager Scott Fitterer to reload by adding Damien Wilson, Cory Littleton, and Matt Ioannidis.

On Monday, the Panthers signed versatile defensive lineman Henry Anderson to add more depth, waiving former fifth-rounder Daviyon Nixon in a surprising move.

Adding more pass-rushing options was a must. Anderson excels against the run, which could provide the support needed going into Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns with arguably the league’s best running back duo and a formidable offensive line.

On the backend, Xavier Woods is another addition to the defense to pair with Jeremy Chinn. the free-agent signing from the Minnesota Vikings brings a lot of experience and great communication to the young secondary room, which has already improved communication according to Matt Rhule.

The losses in free agency on defense were significant. Phil Snow will be relying on young players coming of age in pursuit of building on a positive campaign overall in 2021.
