Can Matt Rhule’s adjustments help the Carolina Panthers?
One of the biggest criticisms surrounding Matt Rhule since joining the Carolina Panthers is his inability to adjust effectively during games. This has caused some significant complications – particularly in the third quarter – which must get better during a make-or-break campaign for the head coach in 2022.
Rhule certainly appears more confident and refreshed this offseason. A fresh-centered approach regarding training camp structure and becoming more player-orientated is working out well, but it will count for nothing if the Panthers cannot make substantial strides during his third season in the role.
The roster looks in pretty good shape. Rhule also has the benefit of former head coaches and coordinators throughout his staff that he can turn to for advice in Week 1 and beyond.
This will put the Panthers in a much better spot. It might even make them more efficient throughout all four quarters for good measure.
However, if Rhule continues to get outcoached in terms of adjustments, then it won’t take long for the same complications to emerge.
The early signs are encouraging and Rhule might end up surprising a few as the season goes on. But the former Baylor man must set the tone instantly to get everyone back onside.
