5 free agents the Carolina Panthers should consider after Week 1 loss

Carolina Panthers should consider Ndamukong Suh
The Carolina Panthers defensive front was exposed on countless occasions against the Cleveland Browns. This group has the talent, but consistency could become a real issue as the season goes on and especially if one or two key men go down with injuries.
Thankfully, the Panthers have enough salary-cap space to make a splash should they wish. One of the more prominent names remaining on the free-agent market is Ndamukong Suh, who might be exactly what Carolina is looking for despite his advancing years.
Suh is a violent presence that can operate anywhere on the defensive line with ease. He might be 35 years old, but his production for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the last two seasons indicates there is plenty left in the tank.
According to a recent report, Suh remains in discussions with the Minnesota Vikings about a potential move. This represents a better option than the Panthers given how Kevin O’Connell’s team could emerge as a dark horse postseason challenger.
There’s little doubt Suh would provide an extra edge in Carolina. Even if it would only be from a key rotational role given the team’s confidence in players such as Yetur Gross-Matos and Matt Ioannidis.
