5 Carolina Panthers on the hot seat ahead of Week 2 at NY Giants

Matt Rhule – Carolina Panthers HC
Nothing new here, right?
Matt Rhule was a man under pressure even before a competitive snap in 2022. Another disappointing defeat on home soil means the Carolina Panthers have gone a full calendar year without success at Bank of America Stadium and they currently possess the NFL’s longest losing streak to further heighten concerns.
In fairness to Rhule, his time management in-game looked better. There were no wasted time-outs, but discipline issues remain and it didn’t appear as if any complications that blighted their 2021 campaign had improved against the Cleveland Browns.
Rhule stated in his Monday presser that he wasn’t too discouraged. That might be the case, but another reverse at the New York Giants – the scene of an embarrassing 25-3 scoreline last season – and one has to wonder just how much longer the former Baylor man can hold on.
There’s still a long way to go for Rhule and the Panthers in 2022. Fans sounded off following the loss on social media, but ignoring the outside noise and making the right adjustments is the only way Rhule’s going to turn this around.
Whether the Panthers have the right personnel to accomplish this feat is the big question. One we’ll know much more about after their Week 2 game at the Giants concludes.
