3 keys to success for the Carolina Panthers at NY Giants in Week 2
Carolina Panthers must contain Saquon Barkley
The Carolina Panthers’ run defense disappointed in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. Their rushing duo is tremendous and everyone knows that, but the proper adjustments were not made and they ran all over Phil Snow’s front seven.
Cleveland totaled 217 rushing yards while averaging 5.6 yards per attempt. Snow mentioned that he wanted to keep that number below four and the team failed to achieve this goal.
Nick Chubb showed that he requires more than one defender to be tackled. So the Panthers must make sure that the defense swarms any ball carrier in Week 2.
The defensive line and the linebackers must have a better showing for this team to improve the run defense. Snow and the team’s preparation for Saquon Barkley need to be on point as the defense can’t afford a repeat of what transpired on opening day.
Carolina will have their hands full again with one of the league’s best young running backs in Barkley. Going into Week 2, the former Penn State standout leads the NFL in rushing after his phenomenal 164-yard effort at the Tennessee Titans.
Stopping Barkley may not be possible for the Panthers’ defense. But if they could contain him to under 100 rushing yards, that would be a great start to what will hopefully be a win in the column.
