Carolina Panthers’ defense must create turnovers

After failing to create any turnovers in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, things have to improve quickly on defense. Most fans would say that altogether they didn’t impress at all, so the Carolina Panthers must get themselves into the turnover column this weekend.

The Panthers didn’t get much pressure on Jacoby Brissett last week as they only sacked him once. Brian Burns will be hungry to get his first sack of the season and might fancy his chances against rookie first-rounder Evan Neal.

If Burns and company were to have a big day and come away with a force fumble sack, that would be a huge step in coming away victorious.

After the Week 1 loss to Cleveland, defensive back coach Steve Wilks will surely have his secondary correct some of the mistakes, so expect them to be locked in for Week 2. Carolina’s pass defense will be aggressive in trying to get their first takeaway of the 2022 season, but generating pressure on Daniel Jones is vital.

Jaycee Horn played in his fourth career game last week after returning from a long-term foot injury, so some rust had to be shaken off. Look for the former South Carolina stud to be much sharper against the New York Giants.

Recently named a team captain, Jeremy Chinn can take the ball away in a variety of ways when given the opportunity. Whether that’s intercepting the quarterback, or forcing a fumble, he’s done several times in his young career.

Chinn could be poised for a game-changing play against a team with some question marks. Something the second-round pick in 2020 indicated was his primary improvement goal heading into the campaign.
