Rashard Higgins – Carolina Panthers WR
If Rashard Higgins was hoping to get one over on his former team in Week 1, the wide receiver was out of luck. The Carolina Panthers didn’t put their free-agent signing on the field for a solitary snap, which was down in no small part to offensive inefficiency in the first half that forced the game plan to change.
With that being said, it was disappointing to see Higgins’ lack of involvement late on when the Panthers were chasing the game. Especially considering his strong offseason and previous chemistry with Baker Mayfield from their time together on the Cleveland Browns.
Higgins will look to become more of a factor in Week 2 at the New York Giants. Although it appears as if he is No. 4 on the wide receiver depth chart behind D.J. Moore, Robbie Anderson, and Shi Smith.
Making the most of opportunities when they arrive will be crucial for Higgins. New York doesn’t boast the best secondary, so the wideout might be a surprise they don’t see coming given the need to focus attention elsewhere.
Mayfield had some timing issues before coming to life late on. So it might be worth Ben McAdoo getting Higgins involved with plenty at stake for everyone associated with the organization.
