Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR

It’s hard to gauge just where Terrace Marshall Jr.‘s career is heading right now. The wide receiver was the subject of trade speculation before final cuts and didn’t see a snap on offense in Week 1, so it’s evident there isn’t much in the way of confidence surrounding the former second-round pick out of LSU.

Marshall came into the Carolina Panthers with an abundance of intriguing attributes. Despite standing out during training camp for the second-straight year, his inability to stay healthy has complicated matters.

With Laviska Shenault Jr. potentially being active for the first time following his trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars, Marshall might be on the outside looking in. Something that would be yet another blow for a player with all the athletic skills needed to carve out a successful NFL career for himself.

At some stage, the Panthers have to throw Marshall in at the deep end to see how he gets on. But considering the high stakes for Matt Rhule at the New York Giants, it represents a substantial gamble that could legitimately go either way.

This is all about trust, something Marshall doesn’t have much of right now. Just how he can get this back is debatable, but if he does see the field at MetLife Stadium then stamping his authority when called upon would be a good place to start.
