Christian McCaffrey – Carolina Panthers RB
Christian McCaffrey only had 10 carries for 33 rushing yards paired with four receptions for 24 receiving yards against the Cleveland Browns. His only saving grace on the day was a touchdown for fantasy owners.
Going as a top-three player in most fantasy football leagues, this performance underwhelmed and created irritation at the play calling of Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, who chose to put the game in Baker Mayfield’s hands almost constantly right out of the gate, which is exactly what the Browns wanted.
After a healthy offseason, Panthers nation and the fantasy football community expect McCaffrey to be heavily involved in the offensive game plan. So it will be interesting to see how McAdoo utilizes the league’s best dual-threat running back in Week 2.
Start or Sit in Week 2?
START.
As long as McCaffrey is healthy, he is a must-start every week. Let’s chalk up Week 1 to adjusting to a new quarterback and lack of participation in the preseason.
The New York Giants run defense is not something to write home about despite a good outing versus Derrick Henry. So expect McCaffrey to prove he belongs as a top-three selection in both the rushing and passing attack.
