Eddie Pineiro – Carolina Panthers K

Signed only a week before the Cleveland Browns game, Eddy Pineiro did what he was supposed to do by hitting his long field goal and drilling extra points.

It was a pretty quiet day, to no fault of his own. This was mainly down to the offense having trouble getting the ball into field goal range most of the game.

Start or Sit in Week 2?

BUYER BEWARE.

If this were Zane Gonzalez, I would happily roll the dice. But Pineiro is on his fourth team in the last calendar year, so the jury is still out if he is worthy of a weekly start or just a fill-in role.

Carolina Panthers DEF/ST

What happened to the Phil Snow magic?

The Carolina Panthers’ run defense was about as poor as it gets last week. But the passing defense was respectable despite very little pressure from the defensive front.

This all starts in the trenches. The defensive line needs to sign a free agent for depth, mental errors must be erased, and guys have to wrap up tackling.

Start or Sit in Week 2?

BUYER BEWARE.

Carolina’s defense is a middle-of-the-pack unit after allowing 26 points in Week 1, but they did well in the kicking game and pass defense. With an afternoon match at MetLife Stadium, this unit is worth a play, but temper expectations.
