Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield secures 3 passing TDs

With the spotlight slightly diminished on Baker Mayfield in Week 2, it might see the quarterback become more relaxed despite entering a hostile environment at MetLife Stadium.

Although failing to get a win over the team that traded away Mayfield this offseason was disappointing, it’s a relief to get this revenge contest out of the way early. Now the signal-caller can focus on improving and there was enough to suggest he can make things happen based on a stunning comeback that almost resulted in an improbable victory.

This is a solid foundation from which to build for Mayfield. But putting everything together for a full contest is the next step for an offense that does have plenty of talent at the skill positions.

The New York Giants have the likes of Xavier McKinney and Adoree’ Jackson in their secondary. However, if Mayfield gets enough time in the pocket then some areas can be exposed.

Mayfield is being counted upon heavily to deliver in the face of adversity.

His fierce determination and ability to conjure up magic out of nothing represent an X-factor that the Carolina Panthers have been searching for. So securing three passing touchdowns would be a great way to kick start his campaign.

And who knows, this might provide the spark that ignites the Panthers over a difficult run of games to come.
