Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is losing the fanbase
One could argue the ownership under David Tepper is almost as bad as the Carolina Panthers play under Matt Rhule. Since the hedge fund billionaire purchased the team from Jerry Richardson it has just been a mess across the board.
We’ve seen that while Tepper may be an ace when it comes to finances, the same cannot be said when it comes to running a football team. He has a lot to learn, to put it mildly.
The writing was on the wall when Tepper proclaimed that he hired Rhule because “he dresses like s**t like I do”. Hardly reassuring words when it comes to hiring someone in a position of almost supreme power.
During this offseason, we’ve seen the debacle that is the Panthers’ practice facility down in Rock Hill. After Tepper Sports and Entertainment failed to reach an agreement with the city on the funds needed to fund such a grand project, Carolina was left with an empty unfinished building site.
If Tepper wants to regain any shred of credibility amongst Panthers fans, he needs to start making smarter decisions. And when it comes to football moves, leave it in the hands of general manager Scott Fitterer from now on.
