4 bitter disappointments from the Panthers loss at NY Giants in Week 2
By Preston Seyl
Carolina Panthers’ inadequate coaching
The problems at the end of the day stem from the coaching staff. This starts and ends with Matt Rhule.
The Carolina Panthers are 1-25 under Rhule when allowing 17 points or more. This simply is abysmal and unacceptable in the NFL.
A nine-game losing streak is the most active league-wide and the Panthers have a 2-14 record over their last 16 contests. Rhule has proven the fans correct – he is simply not built for the NFL game.
His decision-making is suspect, there remains a lack of accountability, and Rhule also finds life difficult coming up with the right adjustments week-to-week.
The talent is there, yet Rhule and Ben McAdoo can’t come up with a creative game plan to feature all these weapons. Players are not being utilized to their ability, and it shows.
Carolina’s offense looks to be in quicksand more often than not. The adjustments are not tailored to the opposing defense’s weaknesses while not featuring your star players is a fallacy.
These two games were pivotal for the Panthers to win as the schedule is brutal from here on out. Unless things change quickly for Rhule, it’s hard to envisage a scenario where the former Baylor man sees out the campaign.
