Baker Mayfield must win

This is the long and short of it. Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers must win against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.

The natives are already restless at Bank of America Stadium just a fortnight into the campaign. With three consecutive home contests before visiting the Los Angeles Rams, starting this off with another loss would make for a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

Carolina needs more collectively, not just from Mayfield. Matt Rhule and his staff must also start adjusting their game plan after some bland scheme structures and odd personnel decisions over the opening two games.

Many individuals are fighting for their jobs, Mayfield included. Nobody knows this more than the Saints, who’ll come out all guns blazing and have shown more than enough to suggest they could make the playoffs based on their early season efforts.

Now is the time for Mayfield to deliver. Everyone must play their part, but this all comes down to how the signal-caller handles adversity to pick this underachieving team up by the scruff of the neck.

Winning despite the coaching staff is not ideal. But that is the harsh reality for Mayfield to avoid further doubts about his future aspirations as an NFL starter.
