Terrace Marshall Jr./Rashard Higgins – Carolina Panthers WRs

Having two players on one slide may seem like a cheat. However, Terrace Marshall Jr. and Rashard Higgins fill much the same role and it is one that was sorely missed over the first two weeks of the season.

Big-bodied, contested catch receivers are hard to come by in the NFL. The fact that the Carolina Panthers have elected to sit the only two that fit that bill to start the year is mind-boggling, to say the least.

Yes, Marshall has had struggles, and Higgins is unproven in this system. But the lack of red zone threat has shown.

Carolina has found life difficult converting red-zone trips into touchdowns. Even so, there is a reluctance to implement Higgins or Marshall prominently within Ben McAdoo’s scheme.

Forget the fact that Marshall was a second-round pick. Simply taking up a roster spot in a room that should be very deep means that there is some trust to be on the field, let alone have the ball thrown in that direction.

Maybe the coaching staff has seen something we as fans haven’t. But the Panthers need a red zone target after the lack of touchdowns or it will just be another repeat of last year for this team.
