Carolina Panthers fantasy football outlook for Week 3 vs. Saints
Baker Mayfield – Carolina Panthers QB
Week 2 did not build much confidence for fans purely based on statistics.
Going 14-of-29 for 145 passing yards and one touchdown, Baker Mayfield had a lower completion percentage and fewer yards than in Week 1 against his former team. However, the Carolina Panthers quarterback did not throw an interception and ran five times for 35 rushing yards at the New York Giants.
Christian McCaffrey was utilized more in the run game, which may be a contributing factor. But both the coaching staff and fanbase expect Mayfield to put up numbers worthy of a fifth-year, former first-round pick.
Start or Sit in Week 2?
SIT.
The New Orleans Saints defense did well facing Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, coming away with 14 points allowed, a fumble recovery, and a sack.
Mayfield is no Brady and the Panthers’ offensive line is still ranking in the bottom third of the league. With less protection time on passing downs, the Oklahoma product will be forced to get rid of the ball quickly, which can lead to complications versus a talented secondary.
If you’ve got a better fantasy football option than Mayfield – which is likely – use him.
