Carolina Panthers fantasy football outlook for Week 3 vs. Saints
Christian McCaffrey – Carolina Panthers RB
Christian McCaffrey played a bigger role in Week 2 coming away with 15 carries for 102 rushing yards paired with four receptions for 26 receiving yards. While the former first-round pick did not garner a touchdown, he was more effective versus an under-strength New York Giants defense.
We saw a flashback of 2019 McCaffrey on Sunday, which is a positive. The running back looked elusive, and explosive, reaching triple figures for the first time since his historic 1,000-1,000 yard season.
Start or Sit in Week 2?
START.
As long as McCaffrey is healthy, he is a must-start every week.
With his presence on the field, McCaffrey is a threat to gain positive yardage on any play he touches the ball. Although he’ll face a stern test against a familiar foe this weekend given the strength of the New Orleans Saints front seven.
The Carolina Panthers wide receiving corps is not putting up large numbers and New Orleans will likely try and put the game in Mayfield’s hands. This could result in shorter dump-offs for McCaffrey and at least 150 combined yards.
However, there is also a scenario where McCaffrey gets clamped by the Saints. So temper expectations if the Panthers get in a hole early.
