Eddy Pineiro – Carolina Panthers K

Eddy Pineiro has been a solid pickup at the kicking position after the Carolina Panthers had to act fast following the long-term injury to Zane Gonzalez. Hitting 4-of-4 field goals and all extra points, the veteran is earning a roster spot somewhere in the league next season.

Of all facets of Carolina’s game, kicking has been the most consistent. So it’s at least one area fans do not need to worry about.

START.

The Panthers may have more trouble finding the end zone in this contest, so expect a fair amount of field goal attempts. If Pineiro can continue this streak, he is capable of producing double-digit points.

Week 2 showed some improvements from Week 1, but still not at the level many analysts predicted for the defense. Allowing fewer points and garnering more sacks at the New York Giants did not amount to victory and the Panthers will attempt to slow down the New Orleans Saints’ offense.

The passing defense has been strong. But the run defense is a question mark despite showing signs of life last Sunday, holding  Saquon Barkley to 72 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Any defense will be happy with a 3.4 yards-per-attempt outing for a running back of his caliber.

BUYER BEWARE.

Jameis Winston is playing with four fractures in his back, so do not be surprised to see some combination of former No. 1 overall selection, Andy Dalton, or even Taysom Hill under center.

However, Alvin Kamara is dangerous and should return after missing last week’s contest. Stud wide receiver Michael Thomas seems to be at full health dominating secondaries once again.

With Jarvis Landry in the mix, it will be challenging to slow down all offensive options.
