3 changes the Panthers coaching staff must make in Week 3 vs. Saints

Carolina Panthers’ philosophy must change on offense
The Carolina Panthers’ offense has looked terrible over the first two weeks. Ben McAdoo‘s scheme is simply not working and there is a major failure when it comes to getting the football to the team’s primary playmakers.
The run/pass option that Matt Rhule loved to run while in college is not working right now. It’s very predictable and the lack of size at quarterback is a big factor behind the lack of execution.
Throughout Baker Mayfield‘s career, play action and a leaning on the run game have been his bread and butter. Carolina’s offense should be tailored to these strengths if they want to progress.
McAdoo and Rhule’s stale offensive approach and game plan are hard to watch at times. Something that’s also hurting Carolina’s defense down the stretch.
The lack of movement pre-snap is concerning. The offense simply lines up and goes straight to the quick game hardly taking any meaningful deep shots downfield. Carolina’s scheme looks abysmal, lacking any creativity to get the playmakers in space.
In Week 3, the philosophy of the Panthers’ offense needs to be centered around what Mayfield does best. That’s having a productive running game, opening up the pass while running the naked bootleg, and getting the signal-caller out of the pocket away from tipped balls.
Having Christian McCaffrey should help in that regard. But the onus is on McAdoo to make the adjustments needed.
