Carolina Panthers defense gets 1 INT and 3 sacks

It is always good to lead the league in statistical categories. But this is one the Carolina Panthers want to avoid.

They are the only defense not to force a turnover.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Even with today’s high-octane offenses coming with ridiculously high passing and receiving numbers coupled with increased scoring, defenses still win championships. Something that remains the core component behind most teams that go on to achieve success during any given season.

Any coach will tell you that winning the turnover battle is a key component of winning any game. After a week of focusing on creating takeaways in practice and the New Orleans Saints experiencing some issues at quarterback with Jameis Winston’s injury problems, the timing is perfect for the secondary to get an interception while the front seven racks up three sacks.

Brian Burns will continue his mark to double-digit sacks, leading a defensive front that is hungry to return to their dominant form from 2021 when they ranked second in overall defense.

One cannot take the Saints lightly – especially if running back Alvin Kamara suits up – but this is not the formidable New Orleans offensive line of old and we all know Winston will give Carolina a chance of two if history is any indication.
