Carolina Panthers must contain Marshon Lattimore

Marshon Lattimore is a big containment priority for the Carolina Panthers’ offense given the cornerback’s evident talent. Accuracy has not necessarily been a strong suit of this team in recent years, as is the wide receivers’ ability to help out the quarterback with separation and winning contested catches.

This is something a player like Lattimore is built to capitalize on.

Lattimore is also not one to sit back and be quiet no matter the situation. This scrappy attitude not only gets under the skin of opponents but also spurs those around the corner to feed off that seemingly endless energy and swagger.

Whether it be the play on the field or the trash talk that will inevitably come, keeping Lattimore quiet is hugely important for the Panthers to have any chance of doing anything downfield against the New Orleans Saints.

No one has stepped up alongside D.J. Moore and it’s showing a severe decrease in production for the talented wide receiver. Without another downfield threat, Lattimore can sit on Carolina’s top option with safety help from Tyrann Mathieu and watch as the Panthers collapse around them.

Someone has to pick up the slack and soon so that Moore can focus on only having to beat one player instead of the increasingly present double teams of the last few seasons.
