Carolina Panthers must contain Kyler Murray

The Carolina Panthers have done a good job of containing quarterbacks and limiting them through three games. With that being said, Kyler Murray is one of the most dangerous they’ll come up against in 2022.

Murray has thrown for 784 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in 2022 with a completion percentage is 63.8. The former No. 1 overall selection has been sacked five times and the Panthers will attempt to increase that number in Week 4.

One thing that Murray has yet to get going this year is his rushing ability. He has just 12 attempts for 65 yards, which is 5.4 yards-per-carry. A major surprise considering this is arguably his biggest strength.

Murray hasn’t had a monster game so far in 2022 and the Panthers’ defense will be trying to prevent that from happening to secure another win at home. Restricting Murray’s ability to create plays out of nothing will go a long way to determining a positive outcome for head coach Matt Rhule.

Fans can expect Phil Snow to assign a “spy” on Murray at all times. Chances are that it will be Jeremy Chinn or Shaq Thompson playing the role – one they must excel at in no uncertain terms.

If the Panthers’ defense contains Murray – specifically on the ground – the chances of Carolina ending the game victorious rise exponentially.
