Baker Mayfield – Carolina Panthers QB

Week 3 saw Baker Mayfield throw 12-of-25 for 170 passing yards and one touchdown. The lone bright spot was the 67-yard catch-and-run touchdown by former Jacksonville Jaguar Laviska Shenault Jr. in the fourth quarter.

Each week, Mayfield’s completion percentage has dropped. This is leading to concern for both the Carolina Panthers and his fantasy owners if there are any of those left by now.

On the season, Mayfield’s completion percentage has declined from 59.3, 48.3, and then 48 percent. Blame can be put on an offensive line not providing sufficient protection time, overthrows, and wide receivers dropping catchable balls, but the buck ultimately stops with the signal-caller.

Mayfield has stated he needs to play better and make smarter decisions. So the former Oklahoma standout is aware of the lackluster outings.

Start or Sit in Week 4?

SIT.

Unless you are in a two-quarterback or Superflex league, better options exist. With a less-than-stellar completion percentage and only one touchdown thrown per game, Mayfield does not garner much attention for fantasy owners.

Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph loves to blitz the pocket, potentially leading to more chaos for Carolina’s passing game. Until Mayfield proves himself and gets on the same page as his receiving corps, he cannot be trusted.
