Which way could the Carolina Panthers go from No. 7 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft if things don’t improve for the organization this season?

We are still a long way from the 2023 NFL Draft, but some top prospects have already begun staking their claims throughout the first month of the college football season. Scouts within the Carolina Panthers will be busy forming a shortlist of potential candidates across multiple positions, but the team’s primary focus right now is building on their elusive first victory of the campaign against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.

Matt Rhule needed a win more than any other head coach. Things are still hanging in the balance for the former Baylor man, but he’s provided a glimmer of hope things can start turning around after their best performance in some time.

Triumphing over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday gets the Panthers to 2-2, which would be an achievement considering how poorly they started. However, their schedule doesn’t look too kind midway through the year, which could result in another losing record and some landmark changes across the board if team owner David Tepper decides to pull the plug.

Needs will change as the season goes on in terms of what’s required in 2023. But with minimal cap space and a handful of draft selections, this wouldn’t be the most enticing proposition for any new head coach in the circumstances.

Using the Pro Football Network mock machine, which has Carolina picking at No. 7 overall, we took a look at which way they might go with their selections in our latest seven-round mock draft.
