3 Panthers players with most to prove in Week 4 vs. Cardinals
By Dean Jones
Which Carolina Panthers players have the most to prove during their Week 4 encounter against the Arizona Cardinals?
The Carolina Panthers are gearing up for another regular season game later in the afternoon when they take on a talented but banged-up Arizona Cardinals. It promises to be an emotional occasion as the franchise honors Pro Football Hall of Famer Sam Mills – something that can inspire Matt Rhule’s men if harnessed in the correct manner.
Winning in Week 3 versus the New Orleans Saints has shifted the dynamic and improved confidence. At least from the outside looking in, this appears to be another excellent opportunity to generate further momentum despite the Cardinals boasting one of the league’s best dual-threat weapons in quarterback Kyler Murray.
Things are still precarious for the Panthers and a loss would see pessimism descend on the organization again. Therefore, Rhule must have his squad locked in and ready to tackle what promises to be murky weather conditions in pursuit of a second-straight triumph.
With that being said, here are three Panthers players with the most to prove in Week 4 at Bank of America Stadium.
Player No. 1
Cory Littleton – Carolina Panthers LB
The defense has been far from the Carolina Panthers’ biggest concern over the last two games. But Cory Littleton‘s lack of involvement remains a mystery and something that might continue long-term based on how the likes of Frankie Luvu and Shaq Thompson are performing.
Littleton joined in free agency from the Las Vegas Raiders and was expected to be a significant asset on coverage downs. However, the Pro Bowler has featured in just 26 percent of defensive snaps so far while increasing this to 72% on special teams.
Carolina hasn’t seen the best of Littleton as yet. Although there is plenty of time for that to change providing his opportunities increase.
