3 Panthers players with most to prove in Week 4 vs. Cardinals

Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers TE
The introduction of Ben McAdoo as offensive coordinator was expected to come with increased opportunities for those within the tight end room. However, the Carolina Panthers just haven’t been able to click effectively in this facet of play so far, which has them among the bottom-feeders statistically in almost every category outside of offensive line play and running yards.
There have been times when Ian Thomas has flashed, which is encouraging. But the complete absence of Tommy Tremble from the Panthers’ plans doesn’t paint the most encouraging picture surrounding his long-term aspirations.
Tremble is athletic and is still making his presence felt from a blocking capacity on occasions. This hasn’t translated into the passing game with just two receptions for eight receiving yards, so forcing his way into McAdoo’s system is going to be a tremendous challenge and one the 2021 third-round pick must complete quickly.
Perhaps this might enhance the more familiar everyone becomes with each other. But with Giovanni Ricci and Stephen Sullivan catching the eye when called upon, it could leave Tremble on the outside looking in when it’s all said and done.
The Notre Dame product is young and talented enough to prove himself to a different coach. Carolina saw enough in Tremble to make him a top-85 pick last spring, so it is far too soon to be giving up on him just yet,
