Carolina Panthers have the NFL’s worst TE room

While the play of quarterback Baker Mayfield has been far from good enough, the signal-caller has not been helped by a Carolina Panthers tight end room that cannot catch the ball.

After struggling with drops so far throughout his career, Ian Thomas had two more on Sunday. This further adds to the confusion of why the Panthers gave him a new three-year deal this past offseason.

It also begs the question of why offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo is consistently scheming up plays for the likes of Thomas.

Even Tommy Tremble struggled with drops in this one. Looking at this tight-end group, it is hard to say there’s a worse one in the league.

The fact Carolina didn’t address this issue in the offseason through free agency or the draft is a big mark against general manager Scott Fitterer. Someone like Isaiah Likely – who was drafted in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens – could have arguably produced more and freed up cap space to use elsewhere.

Panthers fans once again we’re calling out for a better play at the position on Twitter with former North Carolina man Eric Ebron once again expressing his desire to play in Carolina.
