Carolina Panthers should monitor Bryce Young

If Matt Rhule is removed as head coach, it might see the Carolina Panthers utilize their first-round selection on a quarterback capable of becoming the face of the franchise. Not exactly ideal when the organization traded up for Matt Corral in 2022, but the NFL is a ruthless business and if the right guy is available, those in power would be wise to strike.

As it stands, the Panthers hold the No. 2 overall selection in 2023. With Alabama’s stud defensive end Will Anderson Jr. expected by many to be the top pick, it leaves Carolina primed to bring in one of the two elite signal-callers emanating from the college ranks next year.

One such individual is Bryce Young. The prospect looks to have all the tools needed to thrive at the next level despite his lack of height, with a shoulder injury suffered last weekend not thought to be all that serious, which is great news considering how it looked at the time.

Young’s pocket composure is tremendous and represents a significant improvement from last year when he won the Heisman Trophy and guided Alabama to the college football national championship final. His confidence as a passer is first-class and the accuracy displayed over short-to-intermediate routes is nothing short of extraordinary.

The Panthers would have a hard time turning down Young if Baker Mayfield doesn’t improve. Something that would finally provide the fanbase with hope for the future after multiple failed attempts to replace Cam Newton.
