Carolina Panthers should monitor Will Levis

Although many are expecting the Carolina Panthers to be the worst team in football moving forward, if Baker Mayfield can become more consistent and Ben McAdoo elaborates his playbook, then it would be a surprise if they couldn’t get to around five wins on the season. Something that would place them inside the top-10 but out of range for prospects such as Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud.

In the long term, this would be a blow. However, Matt Rhule isn’t going to sacrifice his job on the off chance Carolina gives him another chance with an elite prospect from the college ranks.

If this scenario comes to fruition and the Panthers have to look elsewhere, then keeping tabs on Will Levis is something to consider. The Kentucky product has every physical tool imaginable to become a real force in the NFL, but there is a significant amount of work ahead for the player to put everything together consistently.

Levis has a rocket for an arm and runs in a similar physical fashion to Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. However, processing and decision-making are two areas of concern, so sitting on the sidelines as a rookie is probably the best course of action for his long-term prospects.

Teams around the league are always willing to bet on elite traits regarding quarterback prospects, even if the college production is not there. And general manager Scott Fitterer has always said the Panthers will keep swinging until they find their guy.
