6 quarterbacks the Carolina Panthers must monitor for 2023

Carolina Panthers should monitor Lamar Jackson
We can dream, right?
Lamar Jackson‘s contract situation with the Baltimore Ravens has been a hot topic of discussion for some time. The quarterback is representing himself in negotiations and clearly knows his worth, which led to talks coming to a conclusion without a new deal shortly before the 2022 season began.
Jackson is betting on himself, and rightfully so based on his exceptional level of play through four weeks. The former Louisville standout is among the NFL MVP frontrunners, which is seeing the price of his next megabucks contract going up all the time.
Baltimore will likely pay Jackson. They also have the option of placing the franchise tag on the player for the next two years, which would come with astronomical costs attached.
If the Ravens ended up fielding calls for Jackson, then the Carolina Panthers should be at the front of the queue. It would cost an extortionate amount of draft compensation and a contract of around $300 million, but David Tepper was willing to give up the farm for Deshaun Watson and should do the same in this scenario.
Players like Jackson don’t come along every day, which leads one to believe the Ravens will end up shelling out an NFL record-type contract. However, the Panthers would be wise to do their due diligence and keep an eye on developments.
