Christian McCaffrey – Carolina Panthers RB

This would be the most controversial one of all.

Christian McCaffrey is the beating heart of the Carolina Panthers on offense after making an impressive start to the campaign. The injury problems that caused him to miss considerable time over the last two seasons are being managed well, but the player’s touches aren’t and it’s another primary factor as to why Ben McAdoo’s scheme is having real problems.

McCaffrey remains elite with the football in his hands, providing a dual-threat presence capable of turning any game on its head. This return to form and full health could see some willing glances from other teams looking to potentially secure the running back before the trade deadline.

The Panthers are failing McCaffrey, it’s that simple. And according to Jason La Canfora of The Washington Post, Carolina could be willing to move the former first-round selection if the price is right.

Just how bad the Panthers would look on offense without McCaffrey doesn’t bare contemplating. However, they might think twice if someone offers a first or second-round pick to secure his services.

Carolina would also need to absorb a substantial amount of dead-cap money in this scenario. But in all honesty, this is entirely dependent on how the Panthers fare over their next four fixtures before turning to such drastic measures.
