Chuba Hubbard – Carolina Panthers RB

Much has been made of the Carolina Panthers potentially trading Christian McCaffrey in the wake of Matt Rhule’s firing. A report linking the running back with the Buffalo Bills proved to be unfounded according to Will Kunkel of FOX Charlotte and there are some significant financial ramifications to contemplate that would prevent the organization from strengthening elsewhere in the coming months.

McCaffrey remains the focal point and Carolina’s best offensive weapon. He’s been their one shining light in 2022 and hopefully, Rhule’s removal can kickstart the offense to bigger and better things despite coordinator Ben McAdoo getting a reprieve.

Someone like Chuba Hubbard is a different story.

The former fourth-round selection hasn’t exactly set the world alight since joining the team. Considering the presence of McCaffrey, D’Onta Foreman, and Raheem Blackshear, the Oklahoma State product appears in the shadows right now.

Just what interest Hubbard would get elsewhere if he was put on the trade block is debatable. Carolina wouldn’t get anything more than a late-round selection in this scenario, but the chances of him being around long-term are slim at best following Rhule’s forced departure.

McCaffrey could be traded, obviously. But considering the Panthers are likely going to be in the market for a top-end quarterback 2023 prospect, keeping the All-Pro around to smooth this transition is important.
