Carolina Panthers beat the Rams

The Carolina Panthers are currently 10.0-point underdogs at the Los Angeles Rams according to FanDuel Sportsbook. However, the introduction of Steve Wilks as interim head coach could provide the spark that finally ignites this talented core to improvements in 2022.

Being unfancied by most will take the pressure off, to a certain extent. This is also something Wilks must utilize in his favor and the Rams are not the force of old based on the first five weeks of the season.

This all starts on defense. Generating pressure and forcing Matthew Stafford into mistakes is essential, but the absence of cornerback Jaycee Horn is a significant blow to Carolina’s chances of limiting Cooper Kupp’s influence.

Much will also depend on the offense and whether they adjust anything major in the wake of Matt Rhule’s dismissal. Wilks is known as a defensive-minded operator, but he’s not blind and will likely put some huge input into the scheme in pursuit of better fortunes.

It’s a long shot to suggest Carolina is capable of winning versus the defending Super Bowl champions. Especially considering all the turmoil that’s enveloped the franchise over the past few days.

But this is the NFL. And stranger things have happened, that’s for sure.
